Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Brooks Henry Poulson, passed away October 23, 2014, at the age of 87 at his home in Richfield. He was the youngest child of Henry Christian and Jessie Brooks Poulson, born January 24, 1927, in Richfield.
Brooks grew up in Richfield. He graduated from Richfield High School in 1945 and joined the Army. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, he left for two years of missionary service. Following his missionary service, he entered college to receive his Bachelor’s Degree from BYU and his Master’s Degree from USU which prepared him for his successful profession in Agricultural Economics with the Department of Agriculture’s Farmers Home Administration where he served until he retired in 1992.
Brooks married Glenyce Marie Dillman, June 9, 1953, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They spent 61 wonderful years together.
If Brooks was not working at Farmer’s Home Administration, he could be found supporting all aspects of agriculture. He served on the Farm Bureau Board. He was president of the Cottonwood Irrigation Company for 60 years.
A faithful member of the LDS Church, Brooks held many callings. His two year mission was served in the Texas-Louisiana Mission. He was bishop of the Richfield Third Ward. He served missions with his favorite companion, Glenyce, in the Oklahoma Tulsa Mission and the Nauvoo Temple Mission. He served 17 years as an ordinance worker and sealer at the Manti LDS Temple.
Brooks is survived by his loving wife, Glenyce; six children: Blaine (Lynda) Poulson, Richfield; Karen (Phil) Stubbs, Kaysville; Craig (Julie) Poulson, Kaysville; Ronald (Audrey) Poulson, Farmington; Annette (Paul) Judd, Las Vegas, NV; Chris (Emily) Poulson, Rowlett, TX; 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at 12:00 Noon, in the Richfield East Stake Center, 800 North 500 West. Friends may call at Magleby Mortuary, 50 South 100 West, Richfield on Tuesday from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m., or Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the stake center. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery with military rites by the V.F.W. Sevier Post #5050 and Utah Honor Guard
