An Old Resident Gone
Alonzo Denison, a well-known resident of Rome, died Sunday morning at his home at Ridge Mills, aged 81 years. Deceased was born in the town of Floyd, March 15, 1806, and had resided ever since in that town and in Rome. His father, Latham Denison, accompanied by Samuel Denison, a brother (father of Hon. F. M. Dennison of Whitestown) came from Stephentown, Rensselaer Co., to Floyd, in 1800, and settled on adjoining farms, where the remainder of their lives was spent. There Alonzo Denison was born, as was also the late Wellington Denison, a brother of the deceased and nine other brothers and sisters, of whom the only one surviving is Mrs. Rhoda Martin, who resides with her son, Alderman Lyman A. Martin, on Bloomfield Street in this city. Deceased leaves a widow and three children, Latham Denison, Mrs. William C. Fox and Mrs. Orrin Pencil of South Troy, Wisconsin.
