MRS. CHARLES I. FOX

Eliza A., daughter of Joseph Sharr and Sarah Hatfield Sharr, was born in Cincinnati, Indiana on August 28, 1877. She was educated in the schools at Corydon, Iowa. On August the 10th, 1899, she was united in marriage with Dr. Charles I. Fox and to this union 6 children were born:

Dr. Ray A. Fox now of Charles City, Keith B. Fox of Cedar Rapids, Kenneth V. Fox of Azusa, Calif., Mrs. Dr. J.E. (Olive) Shultz of Pella, Mrs. Ila Loetzcher of Padre Island, Port Isabelle, Tex., and Roy, deceased.

The family lived together in Pella for many years where Dr. Fox practiced medicine, retiring from active practice in 1948 when the family moved to Pharr, Tex. Her last illness necessitated her being taken to Charles City for care and on the morning of October 18, 1960, she passed away in the Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City at the age of 83 years. Mrs. Fox was a member of the Second Reformed church of Pella.

Surviving besides her husband and five children are five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one sister Gertrude, Mrs. Barkley Dowd of Des Moines.

Preceding her in death besides her son Roy, were her parents, one brother, one sister and one granddaughter, Sally Jo Shultz.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, October 20 by the Rev. George C. Muyskens at the chapel of the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home. Mrs. Hospers Kuyper served as organist. Casket bearers were Maver Dockendorff, Donald Weachter, Ray Brom, Bob Kuyper, Del S. De Haan and J.B. Van Hemert. Burial was made in the Oakwood cemetery, Pella.

[It seems as if her mother may be here, though it is not clear why they were in TX. Her middle initial is H which matches Hatfield and is the wife of J. Sharr. She is in the same vicinity as Joseph Sharr in the 1870 census and was born in 1853. They were married near there in 1873. Her father lives with her and sister and with his mother in 1880 and is a widower. He seems to marry a Margaret Mood in 1880 but then Ellen Cox in 1881, with whom they are together for some time.]
