Maria H. (Trinho) Trobe was born in Carniola, Austria (now part of Slovenia) and arrived in the U.S. aboard the Vaderland on 18 Nov 1902 with her husband Michael and daughter Elizabeth. They made port in New York and were processed through Ellis Island. She lived in Clinton, Vermillion County, Indiana for awhile and later settled in Owen County, Indiana. She was the mother of Elizabeth, Johnnie(deceased in infancy), Pauline, Mary, Mike and Anna.

Found in family papers. Most likely published in a Spencer, Indiana newspaper. 1943

Funeral Services Held This Afternoon

The death of Mrs. Mike Trobe occurred Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at her home north of Spencer. Born June 16, 1877, in Australia, she came to the United States when a small child. She was the wife of Mike Trobe, who survives her

The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Hudson Hill Chapel with burial in the cemetery there.

Besides her husband she is survived by the following daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Truax of Clermont, Mrs. Gayle Maryon of Clinton, Mrs. Mary Fulk of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Anna Edwards of New Albany. One son, Mr. Mike Trobe, Jr., of Spencer and thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services were in charge of Ed West and Son.

There were two errors in the obituary. Mary was born in Austria, not Australia. She also came to the United States as an adult not as a child.
