Aurelio Espinosa, Sr. worked in the Department of Romanic Languages at Stanford University. He was the Associate Professor of Spanish. He was Chairman of the Department from 1932 until 1947.
He wrote several very interesting books, including, "The Folklore of Spain in the American Southwest: Traditional Spanish Folk Literature in Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado" by Aurelio M. Espinosa Edited by J. Manuel Espinosa. This book includes his early history and ancestry. Through his mother, he is a direct descendant of the original settlers of Albuquerque.
