DR. JOHN PORTER, NOTED CHICAGO SURGEON, IS DEAD


Dr. John Lincoln Porter, noted orthopedic surgeon, died last night in his home at 1019 Michigan avenue, Evanston. He was 74 years old.

Born in Alstead, N. H., Dr. Porter was graduated from the Northwestern university medical school in 1894. Two years later he began practicing in Chicago.

During the war Dr. Porter was president of the American Orthopedic association and for the last fifteen years he was the treasurer. Formerly he was attending orthopedic surgeon at the County and St. Luke's hospitals, and, at the time of his death, the Evanston hospital. He was a professor emeritus of the Northwestern medical school.

Dr. Porter was a member of various medical associations and the University, Quadrangle, and Flossmoor County clubs. Surviving are his widow, the former Ethel Quigg of Bloomington, and two sons, David Q. and John L. Porter Jr.
