Rev. Richard Marion Chaney, 87 of Winchester passed away Monday October 20, 2014 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

He was born April 12, 1927 in Morgan County the son of the late Benjamin and Lucy Goodin Chaney. He married Martha Lou Hawkins August 6, 1960 in Rock Island.

Rev. Chaney pastored churches in Pittsfield, Browning and Louisiana, MO. He worked also as a carpenter and Journeyman Roofer. He was a World War 2 US Navy Veteran serving aboard the USS Yellowstone and USS Yosemite in the Pacific.

He loved woodworking, building crafts, working jigsaw puzzles especially religious and scenic. He attended New Life Church in White Hall.

Surviving is his wife Martha at home, children Richard F. (Vera) Chaney of Orlando, FL, Pauline Stout, Marian Macklin both of Fayetteville, NC, James William (Phyllis) Hartz, Benjamin (Joyce) Chaney both of Jacksonville and Patricia Hartz of Winchester. Also surviving are three grandchildren 9 great grandchildren, a sister Pearl, brothers Clarence and Joe.

Preceding him in death were his parents and brothers Junior, Frank and Emmett Gene, and sister Ethel.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Thursday October 23, 2014 at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will be in Winchester City Cemetery where military honors will be conducted. Friends may call from 10 am until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to New Life Church in White Hall.
