Elmer C. Neal passed away surrounded by his loving family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Mattie Lee Neal; and a brother, Bill Neal.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Ruth; their son, Jason; grandson, Michael; and a brother, Edgar. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
Elmer was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather as well as friend. He was a member of Cottage Hill UMC. Elmer proudly served his country in the US Army. He was well loved and respected by all who knew him. Elmer also loved and enjoyed his work family. His hobbies included woodworking, gardening and dirt track racing. He took great pride in his family and home. Elmer cut and milled the timber that was used in building his home. Elmer was a great problem solver no matter the issue. If anyone had a problem with a car, electrical, woodworking or anything else they turned to Elmer and he would find a solution.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Rev. Jimmy Cook, officiating.
Burial will follow in Barrancas National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 27, 2014 at the funeral home.
