MRS. W.T. VAN ZANTE

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 21, in the Chapel of Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home for Mrs. W.T. Van Zante. Rev. Henry J. Vermeer officiated and interment was made in the Oakwood Cemetery.

Lena, wife of the late William T. Van Zante, passed away Sundays morning, June 18th, 1972 at the Pella Community Hospital at the age of 87 years. Lena, whose given name was Julia Angelena Grandia, was born September 2, 1884 in Mahaska County southeast of Pella, the daughter of Antonia and Judith Van Zee Grandia.

She attended the Pleasant View Rural School in their neighborhood and was united in marriage on October 29, 1908 with William T. Van Zante at the Grandia farm home near Pella.

Mr. and Mrs. Van Zante farmed in the vicinity where both were reared and left the farm in 1947 to make their home in Pella, where on the morning of June 26, 1961, Mr. Van Zante passed away.

Lena was a faithful member of the First Reformed Church in Pella in worship services, Sunday school and ladies organizations.

Surviving are 5 children: Gladys, Mrs. John M. Van Dyk, Ethel, Mrs. Raymond Gosselink, both of Pella; Clara, Mrs. Hubert Thorson of Dubuque, la.; Mrs. Robert Hoeksema and Lloyd E. Van Zante, both of Pella.

There are 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and 2 sisters: Ruth, Mrs. Ralph Ver Ploeg of Denver, Colorado and Florence, Mrs. John Rouwenhorst of Pella.

Preceding in death beside her husband, Will and an infant son were 2 sisters and 3 brothers: Mamie, Mrs. Fred Richardson; Irene, Mrs. Karl Kettering; Stephen, J.B. and William F. Grandia.
