GAINESBORO -- Funeral services for Mitchell Meadows, 72, of Gainesboro will be held Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 10:30 a.m., from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Young Cemetery of the Shiloh Community in Jackson County.

The family will receive visitors today from 5-9 p.m. and tomorrow from 9 a.m. until the time of the services.

Mr. Meadows was dead on arrival at Cookeville Regional Medical Center on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001. He was born on May 30, 1929, in Jackson County to the late Dent and Ollie Dee Hammock Meadows.

He was married to the former Erma Sue Stafford, who survives.

Mr. Meadows was a retired farmer, a member of Center Grove Church of Christ and a resident of Flynn's Creek Community in Jackson County.

In addition to his wife, his family includes four sons, Robert E., Roger Dale, Bobby Ray and Donnie Meadows, all of Gainesboro; a stepson, Billy Joe Stafford of Livingston; four brothers, James, Junior and Tommy Meadows, all of Bloomington Springs, and Charles Meadows of Baxter; five sisters, Mary Frances Meadows of Bloomington Springs, Ruby Manier, Dora Lou Pippin and Betty Brown, all of Cookeville, and Evelyn Haney of Gainesboro; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Ricky Steve and Ronnie Meadows; two daughters, Edith Louise and Sally May Meadows; and one sister, Notie Stafford.
