Virgil French
Virgil Everett French, son of Fred C. French and Ruth Sigler French was born June 27, 1915 at Honey Creek, Iowa and departed this life August 7, 1986 at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr at the age of 71 years, one month and 10 days.
Services were held Monday, August 11, 1986 at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Ted DeHass and Rev. Carl Cummings. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery.
He grew to maturity in the area where he was born in western Iowa where he attended the public school and the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints.
He engaged in farming all of his active years and he enjoyed the out of doors and rural life.
On July 28, 1973 he was united in marriage to Norma Lee at Creston, Iowa and they resided on a farm nine miles east of Bedford, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother and one sister who died in infancy.
Left to cherish his memory are his Wife, Norma of the home; a daughter Connie Bishop of Gretna, Ne.; an adopted son, Robert French Rodenberg of Council Bluffs, Ia.; two stepsons, Michael Duckworth of Creston, Iowa and Tony Lee of Bedford, Iowa; one stepdaughter, Leesa Lee Miller of Bellevue, Ne.; a granddaughter, Sherri Bishop and five step grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth French of Neola, Iowa and Jay French of Weaubleau, Mo.; two sisters, Clara Collins of Honey Creek, Ia.; and Joan Perrin of Council Bluffs, Ia.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was a member of the Clearfield Lions Club and the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints.
Virgil was a kind and considerate person and he will be missed by all who knew him.
