Brother Johnnie Purifoy: Born April 1, 1913. A native of Wilcox County, AL and a resident of Mobile, AL for more than 60 years entered into eternity on January 27, 2000 at the age of 87. He accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of St. Peter Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board and was a member of the Gospel Chorus Choir until his health began to fail. He was a member of Local 1410, ILA Hall and worked as a Longshoreman for m any years. He is survived by a loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Mrs. Eddie B. Purifoy. This union of marriage produced eight children, four deceased. Surviving children are three daughters, Mattie (Richard) Harrell, devoted, Mary (Eddie L.) Johnson, Betty Purifoy, one son, John C. (Adriann) Purifoy; 16 grandchildren, Kimberly Clark, Constance Harrell, Shedrick Harrell, Richard Harrell, Temutis Purifoy, Shandra Winchester, Shrondale Purifoy, Uvanka L. (Mark) Crawford, Dwayne Johnson, Tiffeny L. Johnson, (two devoted) Dionne (Rick) Rebb, Nolan D. (Tonya) Purifoy, Sr., Jason Darshell Purifoy, Byron Purifoy, Demetrice Brown, one deceased; 45 great-grandchildren; nine great, great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Annie B. Gulley, Greenville, AL, Mrs. Maevell Purifoy, Milwaukee, WI; one devoted niece, Mattie Yasin, Milwaukee, WI; one cousin, Henry Purifoy, Fort Deposit, AL; a host of nephews and nieces, other relatives and many friends . Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 5 , 2000 at St. Peter Baptist Church, 650 So. Bayou St., Mobile, AL. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will immediately follow. Interment will be in Lawn Haven Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by SERENITY FUNERAL HOME, 8691 Old Pascagoula Rd, Mobile, AL.
