John was the son of David Harwell Abernethy and Martha Ann Turner). I have not linked him to his parents here because their memorials are unknown burials. John married Susannah Forney, daughter of Jacob Forney (the immigrant) and Maria (Mariah) Bergner. His wife Susannah died in 1850 and I have read several different opinions on where she died and is interred: Missouri, Tennessee, and here in this cemetery.
