Joshua was born in Pensacola, Fla., on Nov. 14, 1980. He was a master grill chef with the Waffle House No. 662 in Destin, Fla., and was active in Special Olympics, playing soccer and basketball. He often volunteered with the Special Olympics, especially with fundraisers. Joshua enjoyed mechanic work, restoring old cars, working on computers and playing video games.
Joshua was preceded in death by his father, Donald O. Lawrence; stepfather, Dennis Steele; and younger brother, Matthew Lawrence. He is survived by his mother, Sherry Steele Schwoch and husband Raymond of Mossy Head, Fla.; brother, Michael Knicley of Niceville, Fla.; sister, Sonora Lawrence of Mossy Head; brother, Allen Steele of Mossy Head; brother, Keith Hardin; sister, Michelle Hardin; sister, Nicole Hardin, all of Alabama; brother, Raymond Schwoch; sister, Rebecca Schwoch, both of Arkansas; paternal grandmother, Linnie Ohmit of Navarre, Fla.; maternal grandmother, Peggy Knicley of Niceville; maternal grandfather, Charlie Knicley and wife Elsie of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; maternal great-grandmother, Dollie Andrews of Virginia; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, in Beal Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. James Cole officiating. The family will greet friends at graveside one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to an account set up with Compass Bank, 198 Eglin Pkwy., N.E., Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548, to help offset the funeral expenses.
