In the late 1860's August Jacob Buntz located on a farm near Mound City. He married Mary Bucher of Oregon, Missouri, a sister to Jacob Bucher and Mrs. Charles Anselment. Their children included Kate Kinney, Cora Richards, Emma Gilfillan, Dan, Frank, Will, James, Ed and Russell Buntz.
Mrs. Buntz died in 1915, and Mr. Buntz remarried in 1917.
Mary Bucher Buntz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ulrich Bucher, was born in Kosciusko county, Indiana, Sept. 16, 1848. In June, 1865, she emigrated with her parents to Oregon, MO. On Nov. 4, 1870 she was married to W.J. Buntz. To this union was born ten children, seven sons and three daughters-one son preceded his mother in death.
She was loved most by those who knew her best. The cause of her death was a complication of diseases which resulted in blood poison. She died Jan. 24, 1915, aged 66 yrs, 4 mo. and 8 days.
She is survived by her husband; six sons and three daughters, Daniel of Maitland, Edwin of Navarre, Ohio, Manes of Oregon, Frank, Wilmer and Russel; Mrs. W.R. Kinney, Mrs. Hugh Richards, and Miss Emma, all of Mound City. She also leaves 17 grandchildren; five brothers and three sisters, and a host of friends to mourn her departure.
The funeral services were held at M.E. Church in Mound City and interment was made in Mount Hope cemetery. Services were conducted by her pastor, A.F. Rice.
