William A. "Bill" Boeger, 72 of Independence, Missouri passed away Friday, October 17, 2014 surrounded by his family while in the care of Vitas Hospice at Research Hospital. Graveside service will be 11:00am Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Independence. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00pm Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Newcomer's Noland Road Chapel, Independence. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Luke's UCC, 727 N. Main St. Independence, Missouri 64050 or VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, 6601 Winchester Ave, Suite 220, Kansas City, Mo. 64133. Bill was born in Kansas City, Missouri, raised in Independence, where he lived and raised a family. As a young man Bill was a member of BSA Troop 228 and received his Eagle Scout award. He was a 1960 graduate of William Chrisman High School where he played trumpet in the band and was active in ROTC. He was a member of CWA union and the New Outlook Pioneers. Bill was a machine setter for Western Electric / AT&T and retired from there after 24 years of service. In retirement he worked for O'Reilly Automotive. Bill was a car and motorcycle enthusiast. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing and shooting pool. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred F. and Edna M Boeger. Bill is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia, two daughters, Elizabeth McKerlie, Christen Arnold and son-in-law, Chawn and two grandchildren; Coleman and Chelsea Arnold.
