Shirley Fincher Craig, 65, of Charlotte died Friday, May 31, 2002 at Presbyterian Hospital. A service to celebrate her life will be held 2 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2002 at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel with the Reverend Lynn Porter and the Reverend Phillip King officiating. Interment will follow in Charlotte Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Born September 14, 1936 in Mecklenburg County, Mrs. Craig is a daughter of the late John Henry Fincher and Mary Wooten Fincher. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and outstanding cook. Mrs. Craig will be remembered for her potato salad.
Mrs. Craig is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ernie Craig and two sons, Michael Craig and his wife Annette of Matthews and Kevin Craig and his wife Jessie of Waxhaw. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Kristen Craig and Wesley Craig and four brothers, John Ace Fincher of Mineral Springs, Ronald Fincher of Cahokie, IL, Harry Fincher of Charlotte and Kenneth R. Fincher of Mint Hill and one sister, Betty Stover of Charlotte.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Presbyterian Hospital ICU unit for their care and compassion.
The family requests that memorials be given to the Americana Diabetes Association, 1820 E. 7th Street, Charlotte, NC 28204 or to the charity of the donors choice.
