The late Mrs. Henry J. Ellis
Carrie S. Carpenter, wife of henry J. Ellis, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rose H. Cummins, at 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, had been in poor health for several years. She had been able to be about the house until Sunday, Feb. 2, when she took to her bed with a hard cold. She was born in the town of Floyd, Nov. 29, 1841, daughter of the late David and Mary S. Carpenter and was married Feb 8, 1862, to Henry J Ellis of Stittville. Three children were born to them. Mary C., who died in August, 1886, Willie J of Floyd and Mrs. Rose Cummins of Floyd hill. She also leaves one brother, and four sisters, George H. Carpenter, Mrs. L. P. Brainard, Mrs. E. E. Fancher, Mrs. S. S. Draper and Mrs. S. D. Draper, all in the state of Nebraska. Also eight grandchildren. Her funeral was largely attended form the home of her daughter on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at noon. Rev. C. B. Wallace officiated. The bearers were Willie Ellis, Clarence Root, Glen and Lloyd Ellis. The remains were placed in the Wright Settlement in Cemetery vault.
