Mr. Jerry Wendell Staley, age 72, of North Wilkesboro died Monday October 20th, 2014 at Caldwell Hospice Home in Lenoir.
Funeral services will be held Saturday 11:00 AM, October 25th, 2014 at Welcome Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Whittington, Rev. Ken Jones and Rev. Ronnie Gregory officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 AM. Burial will be in the Welcome Home Baptist Church Cemetery with rites by the Wilkes County Fireman's Association Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 at Reins Sturdivant

Mr. Staley was born April 5th, 1942 in Wilkes County to Fred Moore Staley and Sally Diana Whittington Staley. He was an active Member and Deacon at Welcome Home Baptist Church. He served in the US Army and National Guard. He retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation and Cricket Fire Department after 30 years' service.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Wrenn Douglas Staley and Grover Staley.
He is survived by his wife Betty Jo Evelyn Byrd Staley of the home, one daughter, Susan Staley Coleman and husband Rusty of Morganton, one son, Randy Staley of North Wilkesboro and one grandson Jerred William Coleman.
