Mrs. Eva Burnett Marsh, 89 of Cana passed away at Northern Hospital of Surry County Sunday, October 19, 2014. Last surviving child of 13 born to the late Floyd Washington and Amelia Catherine Hall Burnett, Mrs. Marsh was born in Carroll County on May 14, 1925. She was a homemaker and a member of Rocky Ford Christian Church, also serving in the Ladies Auxiliary. She worked diligently with the Cana Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for 30 years as her husband led the development and growth of the Fire Department. She was well known as a wonderful cook and a baker of delicious cakes. Mrs. Marsh is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Jarrell and Roger of Mt. Airy, Gail Hiatt and Kenny of Cana; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dale Marsh and Linda of Cana and Don Marsh and Barbara of Mt. Airy; ten grandchildren; two step grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one step great grandchild; ten great-great grandchild; two special caregivers, Delma Bryant and Teresa Ferguson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Marsh was preceded in death by her husband, M.C. Marsh; her parents, Floyd Washington and Amelia Catherine Hall Burnett; five sisters, Annie Mae Hall, Fannie Bunn, Sarah Edwards, Ruth Sawyers and Ruby Horecka; seven brothers, Guy, Glenn, Raymond, Allen, Emmett, Jimmy Lee and Joe Howard Burnett. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Rocky Ford Christian Church with Rev. Billy Moore and Rev. Juanita Burnett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy where she will remain until the time to be taken to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service.
