Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Helen Geraldine Bryeans Giesenschlag, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 28, 2014. She was born in Blytheville, Arkansas on January 26, 1923 to Don and Nevada Bryeans and was the only daughter of three children. On December 7, 1940, she married Barron Thomas Giesenschlag, and together they had two children, Tommy and Anita. Geraldine met her husband of 68 years while they were both attending college. After Barron completed his military service in Montgomery, Alabama, they left Alabama for Snook, Texas. In 1948, they moved to Bryan, Texas where they lived until they moved back to Snook in 1972. Throughout her life, nothing was more important to Geraldine than serving the Lord and sharing His message with others. She was a member of Snook Assembly of God church where she served as church pianist until the time of her death, most of that time spent accompanying her husband, Barron, as he faithfully led the song service each Sunday. Together, they provided music for church services, weddings, funerals, assisted living facilities, and other events across Burleson and Brazos counties. Playing the piano was one of her God-given talents, and she never missed an opportunity to use that gift to honor the Lord. On the day of her death, she was preparing to play for the Sunday morning services at Snook Assembly of God. Geraldine was also called to share her gift with others through teaching. For 40 years, she taught piano lessons both in her home and in the Snook Independent School District. Additionally, she taught children's Sunday School for a number of years always emphasizing scripture memorization. She memorably taught all of her students, including her grandchildren, how to sing all of the books of the bible to the tune of "Bring Them In". Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Anita Giesenschlag Hampton, and her husband Barron. She is survived by her son Tom, and wife, Susan, of Bryan, Texas. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Traci Hampton of Memphis, Tennessee, Missi Giesenschlag of Cameron, Texas, and Brian Giesenschlag, and wife Julie, of Cincinnati, Ohio. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Zachary Thomas, Brock Reynold and Ava Brooke Giesenschlag, all of Cincinnati, Ohio. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Snook Brethren Church in Snook followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Giesenschlag Cemetery near Snook.
