Janis Brown Cox, 75, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014 at her home. Born March 15, 1939, she was the ninth daughter of Mamie Gabhart and Lewis Brown of Anderson County. She worked as a registered nurse, was a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of the Eastern Star Hamilton Chapter #293.Survivors include her children, Melissa (Marcia Welle) Cox of Georgetown, John Russell Cox IV of Lawrenceburg, and Trevor (Jennifer) Cox of Lexington, a grandson Mason Alexander Cox, and a sister Lea Rose (Buddy) Collins of North Carolina. She was preceded in death by sisters Juanita Ruble, Doris Ruth Nethery, Drucilla Ruble, Carlene Moffett, Thelma Abrams, Virginia Wells, and Yolanda Sutherland. Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 4 at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Harry Hebert officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Matt and Dale Sudduth, Brandon Warren, Andrew Goodlett, Seth Nethery, Zachary McClain and Jerry Shely served as pallbearers.
