George Johnston

George Johnston, 83, of Kuna passed away Dec. 22, 2003 at home. George was born July 17, 1920, to Daisy Cornelius (Falkner) Johnston and Alexander Johnston at the family farm west of Kuna.

He had two older brothers, Alfred and Robert Belt.

George attended Kuna schools and graduated from Kuna High in 1939. George attended the College of Idaho and later met Blanche Trefren.

George and Blanche married on Dec. 31, 1943, New Years Eve ... they were to celebrate their 60th Anniversary this Sunday the 28th; family and friends will now celebrate George's life on the 27th.

He was drafted into the Army in 1946, served in Japan, leaving Blanche at home with their son, Garold.

After his return from the war, in 1949, he continued farming and raising his five children. After his retirement from farming in 1984, he enjoyed spending time with friends in the Kuna Kaveman Travelers, Birds of Prey Good Sam Club in addition to the Kuna and Melba Senior Citizens.

George was a lifelong member of the Kuna Methodist Church.

George never met a stranger that didn't develop into a friend and he enjoyed family reunions and sightseeing with friends and relatives. His generosities, infectious laugh and ability as a storyteller will not be forgotten and all who knew George will dearly miss him.

Surviving him are his wife, Blanche; his sons, Garold (Annette) Johnston of Adrian, OR; Milt (Joan) Johnston of Ellensburg, WA; Sam (Barbara) Johnston of Kuna, ID; daughter, Julie Johnston (Monte) Katzenberger and daughter-in-law, Dolores Johnston; 27 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
