The funeral services for Mrs. Juliette Culp were held at the Grace Methodist Church last Sunday afternoon with Rev. A.A. Howe, the pastor of the church officiating. She was laid to rest beside her husband Mr. Richard Culp who passed away in January, 1923.
Juliette Russell was born at Malone, New York, May 23rd, 1852, and passed away at Linn Grove, Iowa at the age of 85 years, five months and twenty-five days, of old age and of heart complications after ailing less than a week.
While a young girl she moved with her parents to Benton county, Iowa. On November 29th, 1871, she ws united in marriage to Richard Culp at Vinton Iowa. To this union eight children were born, six daughters and two sons.
In 1893, the family moved to O'Brien county and located on a farm near Paullina, later they moved into town where they lived until the death of her husband on January 18th, 1923 at which time she moved to Worthington Minn., to make her home with her daughter Mrs. John Kraft, since the death of Mrs. Kraft two years ago she has lived with her other daughters, spending the last year and seven months with Mrs. Leslie Carlson at Linn Grove, Iowa, where she passed away.
One of the happy events of their long married life was the celebration of the fiftieth wedding anniversary in November, 1921.
She leaves to mourn her departure four daughters, namely Mrs. Martha Stonesifer of Paullina, Ia., Mrs. John Limback of St. Paul, Minn, Mrs. Wm. Hawkins of Sioux City and Mrs. Leslie Carlson of Linn Grove, Ia; one son Joe Culp of Minneapolis, Minn.m one sister, Mrs. Emma Culp of Vinton, Iowa, twenty grandchildren and fifty-five great grandchildren.
Three children preceded her in death, one son Edward died in infancym and two daughters, Mrs. John Pattone, Jan. 30, 1933, and Mrs. John Kraft, Oct 1st, 1935.
She was a member of the Grace Methodist church of Paullina, Iowa, where she was also a member of the Helping Hand Society where she was a willing worker while she still resided in Paullina and in which she retained her membership until her death.
She will be missed by all who knew her for her untiring efforts to be of cheer and assistance to all those she loved. A host of friends join her relatives in sorrow over her departure.
