Joanne R. Edwards, 86, of Syracuse, died Thursday at Upstate University Hospital. Born in Syracuse, Joanne was the daughter of the late Louis C. and Louise H. (Horton) Edwards. She retired in 1985 after 37 years with New York Telephone in the traffic department. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Telephone Pioneers and New York State Covered Bridge Society. Joanne is survived by her sister, Marilyn L. Edwards of Syracuse; brother, William H. Edwards of Ohio; and cousins, Sue (Ray) Elwood of Florida and Richard Hill of Georgia. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert K. Edwards. Calling hours will be held Tueday, noon to 1:30 p.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse with a funeral service to immediately follow at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Onondaga Valley Cemetery.
