Caroline (Lena) Engel, 88, 1305 Elm, died Wednesday, April 8 at St. Anthony Hospital. She was born in Munjor on April 23, 1892, the daughter of Conrad and Anna (Krannawitter) Befort.

She married Alois A. Engel in Munjor; he died in 1956.

Survivors include six sons, Eugene, Alvin (Whitie) and Vic, all of Hays, Jake, Denver, Robert, Tulsa, Okla., and Al, McPherson; five daughters, Mrs. Pete (Irene) Stafford, Olathe, Mrs. Bob (Jeanie) Swift and Mrs. Cliff (Bea) Cochran, both of Hays, Mrs. Bud (Mary) Wenrich, Pratt, and Mrs. Kerry (Dorothy) Bahl, Pleasanton, Calif.; 33 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Parish wake service will be 7:30 p.m. Friday at Brock's North Hill Chapel. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 1-9 p.m. Friday at Brock's.
