Dorothy J. Belcher, age 86, of High Meadow Drive, Mount Vernon, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Knox Community Hospital.
She was born on August 22, 1928 in Sword Creek, Virginia to the late Fred and Dulcie (Miller) Jackson.
Dorothy was employed and retired from Conley’s Department Store in Mount Vernon. She was a member of the First Church of God (Anderson Ind.) and also the Pine Street First Church of God here in Mount Vernon. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her daughter Donna (William) Kochis of Mount Vernon; two grandchildren, Jason (Amanda) Kochis of Columbus and Travis Kochis of Newark; her great grandson Mason Kochis; two brothers, Ozro Jackson of Mount Vernon and Charles Jackson of Galion and her sister, Betty Lloyd of Canton.
Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Vernie Belcher Jr.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 5-7 PM and on Thursday from 10-11AM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held on Thursday beginning at 11AM with Rev. Russ Gumm officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
