Gene Rogers, 65, a 10-year resident of Akron, Ohio, formerly of Chesapeake, W.Va., died Jan. 27, 2004, in Pleasant View Nursing Home, Barberton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Rogers; his mother, Viola Thompson; his stepfather, Russell Thompson; and his sister, Katherine Roberts. He was a former coal miner and had attended East Bank High School. Surviving are sons, Kevin and Gene Rogers; a sister and her husband, Betty and Glen Long of Hampstead, N.C.; and brothers and their wives, Richard and Mary Jane Rogers of Morehead City, N.C., Bob and Wilma Rogers of Atwater, Ohio, Virgil and Edna Thompson of Akron, Frank and Doris Thompson of Beckley, W.Va., Joe and Retha Thompson of Bedford, Va.
