Robert Franklin Oates of Jonesboro, Arkansas joined his Lord and Savior on October 15,2014.

Born in Russellville, Arkansas on January 13, 1922 to Ralph and Hattie Oates.

He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas in Civil Engineering. He served in the US Navy during WW II as an officer in Mobil Construction Battalion 96. He was a member of Fellowship Bible Church of Jonesboro, and was instrumental in starting Bible Study Fellowship classes for men in the area. A professional engineer, he was employed by AFCO Steel in Little Rock for forty years. He led an active retirement.

He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Martha, his daughter Becky (Mrs. David Johns), his son LYnn, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral for Mr. Oats will be held at 11:00am, Monday, October 20, 2014, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth,

Burial will follow in Pine Crest Memorial Park.
