On December 22, 1943, Sandra Josephine Duett was born to Edwin Harold Duett and Martha Beatrice Moore in Memphis, TN. She grew up in Philadelphia, MS and graduated from Neshoba Central High School. She was the older sister of Pamela Sue Duett and Edwin Harold Duett, Jr. My greatest memory was hearing her mother talk about "Sandy getting into trouble and walking to her Maw Maw Duett's house down the little road" while being switched.

At the age of 17, she met John R. Boyd, JRB, at the Neshoba County Fair in Philadelphia, MS. They married April 1961 and she gave birth to Melinda Gail Boyd in November 1961. Johnny Scott Boyd was born in May, 1963. She was very involved in her children's activities. Sandra did mostly office work until the early 1980s, when she decided to become a Real Estate Agent / Broker and opened "Boyd Realty" along with her husband. They mainly worked in the Carthage / Kosciusko, MS area. She also took some college courses at local community colleges, at one time thinking about becoming a nurse. However her mother told her she could never be a nurse because a patient would want something and she would tell them, "I'll be right back. I need a cup of coffee and a cigarette!!!"

In the early 1990s she moved to the Houston, TX area and held a variety of jobs. She later married Vincent I. Purcell. Her most favorite "job" and greatest joy was being
"Mimi" to Bradley, Chance, Alexandrea (Alex, Allie) and Olivia. Her babies were everything to her and they always came first. There was nothing she enjoyed more than
spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she always went all out. Birthdays were also special -your birthday was not
complete until she had put cake icing on your nose! Her grandkids were able to see and enjoy many things because of her generosity. She has been a widow for three years. Over the last few years she developed dementia and Alzheimer's, which became progressively worse. For the last 18 months she had lived at Briarwood Nursing and Rehab, where she loved everyone and was loved by others. She was happy and content there.

Some of Mimi's favorite things were Jergen's lotion ( her hands were always soft and smelled like Jergen's), Community coffee (the stronger the better), Red Sport 100
Cigarettes (she smoked for 50+ years and then forgot she smoked!). Little Debbie Nutter Butter bars, and her pets Sam, Pita, Taco the Turtle, Scooby and Chico. She enjoyed the weather channel, her grandkids, murder and mystery shows, money. eating out, wrinkle cream, blonde hair, white tigers, Siegfried and Roy, Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, Cancun, and fingernails painted red. Did I mention her grandkids?

She is survived by her daughter, Melinda Boyd Smith, and her children Chance, Megan, and Mac Smith, Alexandrea (Alex, Allie) Smith, and Olivia Smith; son Scott Boyd and
his son Bradley Boyd and his new wife. She is also survived by her sister Pam Compton and her family, and her brother Eddie Duett and his family, along with extended family
and friends. She is already missed much.
