Dr. Paul R. Strom of Perryville passed away after a long illness on October 18th in Danville Kentucky. Born in Dwight, Kansas on March 10, 1926. His last days were spent with his loving surviving Wife Bessie Guinn Strom.Mr. Strom was preceded in death by one Daughter Susie Jurick, one Sister Dorothy Wasmud, Mother and Father Albena and Elwood Strom. He is survived by his children: Larry (Tatiana) Strom, Mark Strom of Anchorage Alaska, Dana (Pam) Strom of Dallas, Texas, Brother Malcomb Strom of Dwight, Kansas, Sister Helen Fowler of Ft. Collins, Colorado, six grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.Mr. Strom was a WWII Veteran and a graduate of Kansas State University. Paul was a long time veterinarian, practicing in Dwight, Kansas before going on to work for the Federal Government for 30 years as a veterinarian. His work included hog collar, and also in California with Chicken Disease. In 1975, he came to Kentucky to clean up Baines Disease in cattle. In 1985, he moved to Texas to work for a few years before coming back to Kentucky to live in Finley Kentucky (Taylor County). Most Recently, Paul had relocated to Perryville, Kentucky to live his final days with his Wife, Bessie.Many thanks are given to the doctors, nurses, and aides at U.K. Hospital, Hospice of Danville and Danville Center for Health and Rehabilitation, where he had resided for the last couple weeks. Many thanks for all of his and Bessie's friends and family for support. Many thanks to all the Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews who were constant support systems in his life, especially this past year. Thanks to all the time and dedication by his Nieces, Sharen Sue McGirr Huffman (Bruce), Shelia McGirr Brewer (Paul) and a Nephew, Tommy McGirr (Mickey).Visitation for Dr. Strom will be on Wed. October 22nd from 6-8 PM at Preston-Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home in Danville, followed by the funeral on Thurs. October 23rd at 11 AM, officiated by Brother Phillip Coffman and Rev. Monty Carney. Burial will follow on Thursday with Military Honors at Camp Nelson Cemetery.
