SULLIGENT, Ala. J.C. Crutchfield, 77, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at his home. He was born March 9, 1922, to Horace B. and Daisy Noe Crutchfield. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the American Legion, the Sulligent Hunting Club and Crews Methodist Church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Crews Methodist Church with Bro. Mitch Nethery and Bro. Billy Holcomb officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Otts Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include two sons, James Crutchfield and his wife, Patricia, of Hawthorne, Fla., and Kenneth Crutchfield and his wife, Patsy, of Sulligent, Ala.; three daughters, Mary Barnes and her husband, Sidney, and Theresa Spann and her husband, Douglas, all of Sulligent, Ala., and Susan Strevel and her husband, Paul, of Athens; four brothers, Raymond Crutchfield and Horace Crutchfield Jr., both of Alabaster, Ala., Homer Crutchfield of Irondale, Ala., and Billy Ray Crutchfield of Red Bay, Ala.; two sisters, Ruby Lee Nolen of Alabaster, Ala., and Mary Frances Nolen of Sulligent, Ala.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a special friend, Pauline Guyton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Lee Pinkerton Crutchfield; his parents; and a daughter, Debra Kay Crutchfield.

The body will lie in state at the church one hour before services.
