John Hemenway (1779-1821) son of Jason Hemenway (1743-1814) and Lucia Densmore Hemenway (1740-1813) Jason and Lucia were joined in marriage on the 10th day of September in the year of, Our Lord 1766.

John Hemenway married Elizabeth Day on 25 Nov 1802, daughter of Moses and Anna Lawrence (Hobart) Day. Elizabeth born 2 Mar 1784.
John Hemenway and family (John, Elizabeth and eight children) moved from Genesee County, New York to the Ingle settlement of Vanderburgh County, Indiana circa 1820. John was killed in an accident on his farm in the Ingle community. He had been to Evansville to secure some lumber and upon returning home, fell from the wagon and the wheels passed over his body, killing him almost instantly. He was forty-two years of age. REF. Following his death, Elizabeth Day Hemenway married William Erskine on 14 Feb 1825, at Vanderburgh County, Indiana. REF. Indiana Marriages, V2, p.40.
