Larry E. Huber, 50, of 1015 A Elm St. Cleveland, Wi. died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at his home. He was born September 12, 1955 in Sheboygan, son of the late Ernest & Catherine "Betty" Nick Huber. He was a 1973 graduate of Howards Grove High School. Larry continued his education receiving an Associate Degree in Fire Science in 1975 from Fox Valley in Appleton. He obtained his BS Degree in Vocational Education from UW Stout and an EFO Degree from National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland. On September 3, 1978 he married Jennifer Beyer at St. John's Lutheran Church, West Bend. Most recently Larry had been coordinator of Fire & EMS Service at LTC, Cleveland. Prior to his job at LTC he was Training Commander for the City of Sheboygan, he was the first intern with the Fitchburg Fire Dept from 1975-1976, Fire Chief for the Fire Dept. at Fitchburg from April 25, 1983 until October 31, 1995 & was Captain of Fire Prevention from 1978-1983 for the Town of Menasha Fire Dept. He also was an instructor at MATC, Madison from 1977-1978, an EMT with Gold Cross Ambulance Service, Appleton for 5 years after obtaining his EMT license at the age of 16. Thru the years he was affiliated with numerous other Fire Departments including, Grand Chute, Franklin, St. Nazianz, Ada and was currently an active firefighter with the Cleveland Fire Department. Larry was a member of Wisconsin State Fire Chiefs Association, where he was on the Board of Directors from June 1991-June 1995 and served as President of the association from 1993-1994. He also was a member of Dane County Fire Chief's Association from 1983-1995, serving as president from 1992-1993, served on the Dane County 911 committee, was instrumental in securing state funding for the regional Haz-Mat teams, a member of Dane County LAPC, Southern WI & Northern Il. Fire Fighters Association, International Association of Fire Chiefs, instructor for the EMI Institute at the National Fire Academy, Emmitsburg, Maryland and active member of WI Society of Fire Instructors & WI Fire Investigators Society. Larry was a member of the Kiel Municipal Band for many years and was a member of Memorial UCC in Fitchburg. Survivors include his wife Jennifer, two children: William Huber, Madison, Katherine Huber, Seattle Washington, three sisters, Darlene (Ken) Draheim, New Holstein, Carolyn (Wayne) Jolin, Rhinelander, Cheryl (Gene) Spindler, Menasha, his mother-in-law, Marjorie Beyer, West Bend, two sisters-in-law, Barb (Al) Lutringer, Rochester, MN, Chris (Brian) Laine, Arlington, WA and two Goddaughters, Mary Thome & Heidi Krieghoff. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, four aunts, one uncle and many friends.
