After John Appling Gober's death, his widow Elizabeth "Lizzie" Plaster Gober married Edward Mayes on June 12, 1850 in DeKalb Co, Georgia, and had daughter Maggie Rozella Mayes and son Albert Addison Mayes.

James P. Brockman made his final return to the court on June 27, 1893. He showed that on the first Monday of July 1891 he was made executor of the last will and testament of Elizabeth Mayes deceased (April 3, 1891). The distribution of property according to the will was as follows:

To A. A. Mayes, lots of land 639, 638, 637, and eastern half of 636;

To the Guardian of the minor heirs of Margaret Sewell, Isaac Sewell, lots of land 585, 586, 587, and the western half of 636;

Received of A. A. Mayes receipts of burial expenses for one bay mare appraised at $35.00 and one syrup mill appraised at $15.00.

Received of A. A. Mayes and Isaac Sewell Guardian of the minor children of Margaret Sewell $15.00 to be applied as follows: $5.00 to Mrs. P. A. Siddell, $5.00 to Mrs. S. E. Brockman, and $5.00 to N. N. Gober.

J. W. Stone, Ordinary, received $13.80 for costs of administration of the will.
