Born January 3, 1936 in Guymon, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Jerrold and Floy (Staats) Plush. She was raised and received her education in Arkansas City, graduating from Arkansas City High School. She then attended Cowley County Community College.
Marilyn was united in marriage to John “Clayton” Pappan in 1954. The couple lived in Chicago, Arkansas, Newkirk, Oklahoma and Arkansas City. Marilyn worked at the Chicago Hospital, the City of Arkansas City, Albrights in Newkirk, and Cessna in Strother Field. Mr. Pappan preceded her in death in 1974.
Marilyn married Jim Bowman on September 29, 1977. The couple made their home in Winfield. She worked at Serendipity Special Purpose School and at Whittier as a Para.
Mrs. Bowman was a member of the First Christian Church in Winfield. She enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, gardening and flowers.

Pappan; Derek Bowman and wife, Sarah; Caitlin and Dylan Bowman; and Nick and Joe Vargas; and Her great grandchild: Jensen Bowman.
In addition to her parents and first husband, Marilyn was preceded in death by her step father, Jim Comly, brother, Jerry Plush, sister, Delores Hatfield, her nephew, Mike Plush.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Wilmot Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 4 to 8. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 that evening.
A Memorial has been established in Marilyn’s name for Gentiva Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
