73 of Mt. Holly died Monday, June 26, 2000 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2000 at the Harvest Church with Pastor Ed Chidester officiating. Interment will follow in Charlotte Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Born May 29, 1927 in Charlotte, Mr. Russell was a son of the late Worth Slade Russell and Della Yandle Russell. He will be remembered by family and friends as a hard worker and loving father and a good provider for his family. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to cook. Mr. Russell was a mechanic having worked at Russell Generators and Starters. He was preceded in death by his wife Willie Ruth Russell on December 4, 1992 and a son Andy Russell on December 4, 1970.
Mr. Russell is survived by four children; Arthur Russell of Concord, Clyde Russell of Iron Station, Linda Heaston of Stanley and Jo Anne Russell of Mt. Holly; three brothers Preston Russell of Wilmington, NC, 'Bub' Russell and W. S. Russell, both of Charlotte; two sisters Virginia Richards of Raleigh and Phyllis Helms of Charlotte. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
