Heaven has a new angel. Dana Henderson, 43, passed away peacefully knowing her mom and dad were by her side on Oct. 13, 2014, in Spokane, Wash. She fought a hard, long battle with lupus and cancer. She was born in Butte on Dec. 30, 1970, to proud parents, Dennis and Diane (Nerbonne) and the best big brother, Marty Henderson.

Dana attended Butte Central and graduated from Butte High in 1989 with honors. She then went to Brooks College Long Beach, Calif., where she earned her degree in fashion merchandising and design. She continued her education at Northern Idaho College, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She began her journey with fashion and merchandising with Jay Jacobs, Learner, Gap, and Zutopia in California, Atlanta, Salt Lake City, and Chicago. Then Dana decided to make a change. She went to Strong, Stretched and Centered Fitness Course in Maui where she earned Occupational Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor. She then settled in Spokane to be a store manager and trainer for Kay Jewelers.

Dana enjoyed all sports, playing softball, volleyball, track, bowling, and skiing. Some of her happiest moments were with her family camping and skiing. She was an avid traveler and loved vacations, cruises with her mom, and anywhere with beaches and warm sunshine. Also, she loved movies, music and the family dog, MacKenzie.

Her best friend was her mother and her "rock" was her father who she looked to for support and guidance. She had a special love for her brother, Marty and sister-in-law, Kathy. Then came the loves of her life, her special nephew, Kade and beautiful niece, Haley. She was the cool Auntie Dana who spoiled them rotten with all her love. She gave them anything they wanted and that's how she wanted it!

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, "Ga-Ga" Shirley, grandfather, Clyde, and uncle, George Nerbonne; her grandfather, Jack Barsanti; and uncles, Tom and Larry Henderson.

Dana is survived by her mother, Diane; father, Dennis; brother, Marty; sister-in-law, Kathy; nephew, Kade and niece, Haley Henderson; grandmother, Marie Barsanti; uncle, Gino Barsanti; aunt, Darlene O'Rourke; uncle and aunt, Bill and Judy Henderson; aunt, Nancy Henderson; and many cousins.

Dana will be sadly missed by her family, a childhood friend, Julie Gannon, and other friends, Jackie Garrett, Sharmon Hock, Kim Keller, Natalie Pardue, and her many neighbors in Spokane. You know who you are. We would like to thank her Spokane family, Dan and Chris who gave her all their love, support and prayers. Meeting someone for the first time is like going on a treasure hunt. What wonderful worlds we can find in others.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at St. Ann's Church. A celebration of her life and Mass will follow at 11. There will be a reception to follow at St. Ann's Parish Hall. Memorials may be sent to Lupus Foundation and American Cancer Society.

A daughter's love lives in your heart forever. We love you baby girl. You will be greatly missed by all of us. Rest in peace Dana.
