Kenneth Benjamin Boykin, 90, of Colonial Heights, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at the Colonial Heights Health Care Center. He was born November 3, 1923 in Sims, North Carolina to the late Louis Franklin and Daisy Mary Flowers Boykin, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Alton Louis Boykin, Charles Albert Boykin and a grandson Kevin Scott Boykin. Mr. Boykin was a WWII United States Navy Veteran, a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, the Possum Lodge #14, and the AF & AM Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife Elsa Hall Boykin and her son, Thomas Justin Hall of Petersburg, sons Kenneth Joseph Boykin and wife Rhonda, of Pace Florida, Michael Louis Boykin of Richmond, five grandchildren, four great-granddaughters, one great-great granddaughter, three great step-grandchildren, one nephew and two nieces. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 620 Lafayette Avenue Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Fred Adkins officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, October 20, 2014, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard. A private family graveside will be held in Dale Memorial Park Chesterfield, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church or to Camp Hope Ecuador Impact Ministries P.O. Box 780025 San Antonio, Texas 78278-0025.
