Alexander J. Dinkel, 86, Topeka, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 1992 at his home. He worked in the sales & service department at Sears and Roebuck 25 years. He retired in 1972.

He was born Aug. 15, 1906 in St. Peter, the son of John and Anna Pfeifer Dinkel.

He moved to Topeka from Grainfield in 1944. He had been a farmer near Grainfield. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council No. 534 and James W. Gibbons Assembly of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.

He was married to Anna Wasinger Aug. 18, 1925 in Sitka. She survives.

Two daughters and a son preceded him in death.

Other survivors include two daughters, Leona Frye, Topeka, and Eleanor Roberts, Valley Falls; four sons, William Dinkel, Laverne Dinkel, and Cleatus Dinkel, all of Topeka, and Elmer Dinkel, Overland Park; a sister, Irene Kaiser, Grainfield; 22 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Name Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Dinkel will lie in state after 3 p.m. today at Brennan Funeral Home where rosaries will be recited by Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle No. 503 at 5:45 p.m., by the parish at 7 p.m., and by the Third and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus at 7:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care or Holy Name Catholic Church, 1114 W. 10th, 66604.
