WILLIAMS, Mrs. Eugenia Kellogg, 91, died September 15, 2014, at The Hermitage in Richmond. Mrs. Williams was born January 31, 1923 in Athens, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Charles Edward Kellogg and Harriet Catherine Kellogg of Falls Church, Virginia and was the widow of the Honorable Richard L. Williams, who died in February 2011. Mrs. Williams was graduated from The College of William and Mary with a degree in chemistry. She later worked for the Bureau of Standards. Mrs. Williams was an ardent supporter of the Richmond community, both as a volunteer and as a philanthropist. Two of her long-time interests were the Richmond Public Libraries and The Nature Conservancy, serving as President of the Friends of the Richmond Library Board and on the Board of The Nature Conservancy. She was the founding Executive Director of VCU's Free University. Her many interests included gardening, reading, the arts, wildflower and bird identification, photography, painting and pottery, all while also always finding time for her family. As much at home in a museum as hiking the mountains of Highland County, her curiosity and engagement inspired multiple generations. She is survived by daughter, Nancy Davies (Arthur) of Richmond; son, Greg (Taffy) of Richmond; son, Walter (Shawn) of Clarksburg, West Virginia; and daughter, Gwen Mason (Billy) of Roanoke; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family especially wishes to thank Alba Barragan, whose loving care brought comfort and peace to both Judge and Mrs. Williams and to The Hermitage Health Care Center for its care of Mrs. Williams. To celebrate Gene's robust life, her grateful children will receive visitors from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 26, at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave. Interment will be private. The family respectfully suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Virginia Chapter of the Nature Conservancy at 490 Westfield Rd., Charlottesville, Va. 22901-1633 or to Friends of the Richmond Public Library at 101 E. Franklin St., Richmond, Va. 23219.
