Emil L. Miller, 78, of Howesville, passed away at 1:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute.
Born Aug. 12, 1926 in Howesville, he was the son of Verlin and Fannie (Love) Miller.
He was retired from Peabody Coal Company. He served during World War II with the Army in the 38th Infantry Special Forces of the 2nd Indian Head Division. He was a member of Jasonville VFW Post 6225 and attended the Jasonville Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include: his wife Maryellen (Harrison) Goodman Miller of Howesville, who he married April 21, 1997; a daughter and son-in-law Margo and Claude Sluder of Dugger; a son and daughter-in-law Mark and Jan Miller of Terre Haute; a step-son and daughter-in-law Jim and Christi Goodman of California; a sister and brother-in-law Mary and Jim Woods of Howesville; three grandchildren, Christy and her husband Greg Halls of Terre Haute, Amy and her husband Eric Atterson of Terre Haute, and Jonathan and his wife Andrea Sluder of Worthington; three step-grandsons Mark and Mike Goodman of California and Evan Crosby of Evansville; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 50 years and mother of his two children, Ruth (Cooprider) Miller; two brothers, Fred and Kenneth Miller; and a sister Helen Bohnert.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Jasonville Assembly of God Church with Pastor Sam Bush officiating. Burial will be in Peavey Cemetery in Howesville with military graveside rites.
