Robert L. Yeager was born in Shelby County, Kentucky, August 26, 1843. At nine years old his parents moved to Palmyra, Mo., and shortly afterwards both of them died within ten days of each other.
He worked his way through St. Paul's College, graduating in 1860 and serving under General Price in the Civil War.
1868 Mr. Yeager came to Kansas City, after studying law at Louisville, Ky., and having been admitted to the bar at Palmyra, Mo.
He was elected County Attorney in 1871, Prosecuting Attorney from 1872-76, City Counselor under Mayor Holmes.
The firms he formed were Yeager & Campbell, Peak & Yeager, Peak Yeager & Ball, and Yeager, Strother & Yeager.
He married in 1870, to Miss Leonora Forbis, of Independence, Mo. They had five children.

Death of R.L. Yeager
R.L. Yeager Sr., died at his home at Kansas City Monday night. Mr. Yeager is the father of R.L. Yeager Jr. so well known in Lexington and who is the son-in-law of Col. and Mrs. S.J. Huston. His death was very sudden, the immediate cause being heart trouble. Mr. Yeager was a Christian man, an able lawyer and in every way a good citizen.
