Annie Lucille Daughtrey (1917 - 2014)
Norfolk - Annie "Lucille" Daughtrey departed this life on October 13, 2014. Lucille was quite a remarkable lady who at age 97 still lived in her own home & enjoyed gardening in her lovely yard. She was very proud to say she still had a valid driver's license & on occasion drove to grocery shop & do other short-trip errands. She was born in Blackstone, VA to her parents Benjamin Claiborne & Annie Mae Lundy. She married the late Jesse W. Daughtrey & resided in Norfolk, VA for most her life while raising a family. After her husband's death, Lucille got a job working for the State of VA, Division of War Veterans Claims Office. She retired at age 67 & took classes in piano & art. Her paintings have been sold at shows & enjoyed by family members. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Carolyn Clem (Dave) of Algona, IA, her sister Irene Gearheart of Blackstone VA, her grandchildren Georgia (John) of Mason City IA, Joe (Kizzy) of Jasper, MN, Allan, Dawn, Kelly (Scott) of Chesapeake, VA, Daughter-In-Law Linda, & 5 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her son, Bryan L. Daughtrey. Lucille was loved by all her family and we will miss her dearly. A graveside service will be held Friday October 17, at Rosewood Memorial Park, Witchduck Rd. Rosewood-Kellam Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you brighten the day of an elderly loved one with a visit or phone call.
