Mr. Irwin L. "Winnie" "Irv" Brambley, Jr., 69, of Everett, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 14th, 2014 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Mr. Brambley was born in Doylestown on Wednesday, May 9, 1945, the son of the late Irwin L. Brambley, Sr. and Anna (Burak) Brambley.
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and siblings.
Irv attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Everett. He was a graduate of Bristol High School where he played football and wrestled. Upon graduation, he served with the US during the Vietnam War, stationed in Germany with the 57th Artillery Missile Battalion. During his service overseas, he was named most valuable player on the Nuremberg Tigers football team.

Irv graduated from Temple University with a Bachelors Degree in History and a Master Degree in Education MEd and played football and wrestled at the collegiate level.

Mr. Brambley began his varsity football coaching career at William Tennent High School (Warminster, PA), followed by Bishop McDevitt (Springfield, PA) and Archbishop Wood High School (Warminster, PA). He was an integral part of a successful Archbishop Wood football team as the offensive line coach under the leadership of John "Skip" Duffy from 1977-1982, cumulating in the team capturing the Philadelphia Catholic League Title.

Coach Brambley went on to coach football at Everett High School and coached both wrestling and football at Bedford High School. He was very proud of the kids he coached and the athletic and professional careers that many of them went on to have after high school.

For 33 years, Mr. Brambley taught social studies at Everett Area High School, retiring in 2009. On the first day of class he would instruct his students to write the following down: "Knowledge is power. Education is the key to that power." This mantra was drilled into the young minds he helped to shape over the years. Mr. Brambley also shared his love for W.W.II history with his students with passionate lectures and elaborate, accurately drawn battlefields on his chalk boards.

Irv loved farming and had a collection of antique tractors that he enjoyed working on. However, for him, family came first and they were the most important thing is his life. He was so very proud of his grandchildren and they brought him much joy. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, coach and friend who will be remembered in the hearts of the many whose lives he touched.
