Born in Louis, Russia to Sebastian Graf and Margaretha Unknown.

Immigrated to the US on the SS Suevia arriving New York, NY on 3 Aug 1876.

Sebastian Graf was born in Graf, Russia and moved to Louis, Russia around 1821. Die Herzoger lists Magaretha's maiden name as Barbadeau (Russia census spelling is Barbie). However, from the 1834 Louis census, Barbie was actually her married name. Margaretha Unknown married an Unknown Barbie/Barbadeau around 1817. They had son Peter, born 1818. The father died around 1819 or 1820 and Margaretha then married Sebastian Graf in 1821 according to the census.
The census also shows other members of the household including a Bartholemus Barbie who died in 1818 and a son under him, Michael (1815-1829). So he is probably the Unknown first husband but it not clear from the census alone whether Margaretha is the mother of Michael-- Bartholemus could have had a first wife. Since he died in 1818, Sebastian Graf could have married Margaretha earlier than 1821, say 1819 since the census typically do not record marriages but rather movement or registration changes between villages.

Margaretha died between the 1850 and 1957 census and Sebastian Graf then married Katharine Stein.
