James was the son of the late James Earl and Lucy Shackleford.
He served in the Army and was a retired teacher with the Bell County School System.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters and brother-in-laws: Novella (Clarence) Daniels, Kathleen (Troy) Engle, Cora (Arvel) Norris, Mertle (Ray) Norris, Linda (David) Norris, and a very special nephew: Walter Norris.
Survived by: sister: Corrine Reed of Harrogate, TN; host of nieces, nephews, other family members and special friends.
