Lester Edwards joined his loved ones in Heaven Saturday October 4, 2014. He was born June 19, 1927 at a farm home outside Rosalia Kansas to Floyd and Helen Edwards. Lester had been in the Navy and able to travel across the United States as a young man, giving him a love of travel and his country. Over the years he worked as a mail carrier and bus driver between towns in Nebraska where he met his wife, Vera Balderson, in 1948.

They settled in Auburn, Nebraska and raised four children. In 1959, Lester and Vera moved their family to Sacramento, California where he worked as an auto body repairman and eventually managed his own shops. In 2004, they settled in McMinnville, Oregon for health reasons and to be near two of their daughters. Vera passed away in 2007.

Lester will be remembered for his love of animals, playing pool with friends, reading Westerns, playing on the computer, mail and his Facebook interactions with friends and family.

He is survived by his children, Alice Cooper (Larry), David Edwards (Cindy), Darlene Jones (Robert Woods), and Denise Kay Thompson (Marvin); his sister, Valla Krahn (Arnie); seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be held from noon to 7:00 pm Wednesday, October 8, at the Chapel of Macy & Son. Private family interment will be held at Sierra Hills Memorial Park in California. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans in care of Macy & Son.
