Gwen was born July 24, 1923 in a farmhouse in rural Dalton City the daughter of Earl and Genevieve (Smith) Cruit.
She graduated from Bethany Township High School. She is a retired farmer and member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and PEO. Gwen volunteered with the YWCA and DMH Auxiliary, and loved ballroom dancing. She also enjoyed fishing, traveling, and entertaining at her home.
Gwen married Dean M. Wilson March 9, 1943 in Miami, Florida. They shared over seventy-one years together.
Gwen leaves behind her husband Dean of Decatur, children Jim Wilson and wife Donna of Portland, Oregon, Dee Buker and husband Cuyler of Macon, and Dave Wilson and wife Kathy of Macon, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Gwen was reunited in Heaven with her parents, two brothers, and son, Bill Wilson.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. William Franklin, the nurses and staff with ICU South and Ortho 3500 at DMH for all of their loving care.
Memorial services to celebrate Gwen’s life will be held at a later date.
