Robert "Max" Butler of Salida died at his home.

Mr. Butler was a native of Wilson, Okla., and lived in Salida 42 years.

He was a heavy equipment operator and a member of Operating Engineers Local Union No. 3.

He enjoyed traveling and fishing.

He is survived by his son, Robert Michael Butler of Salida; brothers, James Butler of Salida, Denny Butler of Turlock and Paul Butler of Valley Springs; and sister, LaRita A. Dorsey of Santa Clara.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Whatley Butler.

Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lakewood Funeral Home, Hughson.

A chapel service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Burial at Lakewood Memorial Park.
